Garbrand van der Molen is managing director of the agile42 Benelux office. His specialities include Product Ownership, User Experience, Marketing and Design.

Today a new release of Agilo and Agilo Pro.

This release had us focussed on improving our testing architecture to enable us to deliver new features faster without sacrificing quality. Our functional tests are now done with Windmill, while our javascript code is under test by Qunit.

Thanks to these fantastic testing frameworks we were able to grab a hold on a good chunk of user reported bugs - please keep them coming! We have a wide array of systems and environments for testing, but we'll never be able to recreate every possible system.

It wasn't all bug fixes though, this time we're helping out the Product Owners among you by providing an inline editor in the Backlog. Now you can create inline (referenced) tickets without having to jump back and forth between edit pages and the backlog. This will help to stay in context when breaking down a Requirement or User Story. Of course this feature also really helps when you are breaking down a Bug into tasks.

A little impression of how that looks: Inline editing

Upgrading or installing the latest release will give you:

AGILO PRO:

New features:

  • You can now create (referenced) tickets right in the Backlog, no need to go to separate pages anymore
  • Testing infrastructure has been upgraded to better maintain quality

Bug fixes:

  • Whiteboard / Backlog switcher is rendered in front of the preferences window
  • Safari: Opening the story drawer makes the story form jump around
  • Inline edit: the 'add' icon is shown instead of 'edit' icon
  • IE7 Backlog flickering on mouse movement
  • 'License Expired' message now longer shows up for Virtual Machine users
  • Fixed the mod_wsgi issues when creating tasks on the Whiteboard
  • IE7 and IE8 now correctly display the loading spinner
  • In IE8 you can now save your task in the Whiteboard task editor by hitting enter
  • In IE7 task validation errors are shown in the correct layer
  • The summary field is properly rendered in IE7

AGILO OPEN:

Bug fixes:

  • People with the role TEAM_MEMBER can now edit bugs they created
  • The attachment creation link is shown for bugs
  • Agilo will now show a warning if the trac is not compatible with the installed Python version (Ubuntu, Debian)

We are looking forward to your feedback that helped us in making the tool what it is today, and will for sure help in making it even better tomorrow. So please do not hesitate to comment, or participate in our Agilo User Group there are a lot of people willing to share experience

So long... and thanks!

I installed the python egg but the plugin page under admin still shows binary-agilo 1.0.2-pro?

Hi Gerrit, how did you install the egg? Obviously trac can not find the new Agilo package. However, these type of questions should be asked in our User Group (http://groups.google.com/group/agilo) as there is a higher chance of getting answers...

This has really been a good release, the inline editing has been perfected, and there is also the possibility to create new linked ticket in the backlog directly, very cool :-)
