Hi There, I have to admit that we were not expecting that much demand to have agilo ported so fast to Trac 0.11, even if we know that many of you started using it even before was in Release Candidate :-)

Well we put quite a lot of effort in rewrinting agilo in a more rational way, to fit better into the Scrum paradigm and provide more stability and performances. Agilo 0.7 based on Trac 0.11 focuses on the following main topics:

  • Ease of use, configuration and installation: from this version agilo will be distributed as a single plugin, and will be available with an installer (where possible). We plan to distribute directly also 3rd party components that we use, as matplotlib for example. We moved already almost every configuration parameters into the WebAdmin interface, so that it will be possible to configure the system directly via browser
  • Better support for Sprints: many users had problems in understanding which steps were needed to create a Sprint for example, and how actually that sprint relate to the Milestone or Release. Honestly it was a bit tricky, reason why we build a completely new concept in agilo... the Sprint :-) A Sprint can be created as a "step" of a release (Milestone), now using a wizard, that allows the creation setting initial date, and duration or end date. The Sprint also allow to specify the time at which the sprint starts or ends.
  • Real Backlogs: The backlog is a fundamental concept in Scrum, therefore we decided to do a bit more than using a Report. A Backlog needs to be a dynamic artefact, needs to be sorted by some properties, and also needs to allow its owner to arbitrarily assign a position to each contained item. For these reasons now agilo allows you to create Backlogs, and give them a name, a list of sorting criteria, a list of types that you wan included in the Backlog. Allows you to assign arbitrary position to the items, and save the status at any time.

Other features are on the way, but we prefer to try to do things right, and involve the users as soon as possible to get feedbacks :-)

So expects the first BETA of agilo 0.7 on the 1st of August available on our server for download. The sprint will end on the 31st of July, but we will have our ScrumTisch (Scrum Roundtable) in Berlin, so someone will have the time to actually build the packages :-)

To increase the quality of the product we made very much use of unittests, functional tests and build scripts, we have now coverage statistics and test reports dynamically generated, using the "will be a great product" Bitten that we have some idea of integrating in agilo one day, and may be contribute to its evolution too :-)

That's all folks...
