Certified Agile Leadership II (CAL2)

Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) II by the Scrum Alliance is the next step towards deepening, applying, and sharing what you learnt through your Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) I experience.
Who's the Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) accreditation II for?
If you have already attended a Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) I workshop, and you are ready to learn more advanced techniques, share your experience, and collect valuable feedback about your approach, then you are ready for the Certified Agile Leadership (CAL) II accreditation.
Unlike CAL I, the CAL II isn't a simple one-class workshop, but it is rather a small program on its own. It includes advanced education, validated practice, and a peer-based sharing program that consists of learning and practice across all three categories of learning objectives.
Only the Scrum Trainers with the highest expertise can be approved to deliver the CAL program. The requirements for this are a combination of being a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), a Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC), having a certification or accreditation in a recognized leadership development program, as well as having proven leadership development skills.
At agile42 we were among the first to be approved to deliver the CAL program. We have taken the framework of the program, mixed it with our unique concept for accelerated learning and our years of experience in delivering leadership trainings and developed a sustainable program that gives you unique opportunities for peer interaction and practical experience.
Requirements towards Level 2
CAL II requires a CAL I credential and it is awarded after the successful completion of the advanced education, validated practice, and peer-based sharing requirements.
The advanced education part focuses on three categories:
- Leadership in an Agile Context (Option 1),
- The Agile Organization (Option 2),
- Agile Approaches to Change (Option 3),
which are introduced in the CAL I workshop. For each category of your choice, you will need to complete a Scrum Alliance-approved advanced education workshop.
agile42 offers you the CAL 2 credential in 2 different ways:
- Our complete 4-day Advanced Education package is designed to offer you all 3 "deep dive" topics, plus the final Workshop. In this way you will experience all the advanced education categories and you will be able to chose which one to apply in practice to create the experience report (which is necessary for participating in the final peer-to-peer sharing experience workshop);
- The minimum requirement is to chose one "deep dive" topic plus the workshop. In this case, you will be required to create the experience report on that specific topic;
Also consider that between the deep dive workshops and the peer-to-peer sharing experience workshop, you will need a period of experience of a couple of months. During this period you'll be requested to create a report about the lessons, improvements, and personal growth resulting from your experience in applying the techniques learned during the deep dive workshop. Your report will be shared at the peer-to-peer workshop, which will allow everyone to learn from one another and share meaningful feedback on how to improve even further.
CAL2 Option 1: Leadership in an Agile Context
This one-day workshop focuses on Leadership in an Agile context. Because it recognises the importance of continuous personal development in becoming an Agile Leader, it supports you further into your own process. This workshop will offer you both knowledge and opportunities for increased self-awareness, building growth and a deeper understanding of what it is to be an Agile Leader. You'll learn about new tools and models that could help you become a more effective leader, and will help you in creating the environment necessary to make your organization thrive.
CAL2 Option 2: The Agile Organization
This one-day workshop focuses on Organizational Design. It aims to help you be a leader beyond your own personal development and take the capabilities you are building to an organisational context, beyond your own team, ultimately changing organisational structure and culture, in order to eventually build an organisation that is resilient and functions like an organic whole.
CAL2 Option 3: Agile Approaches to Change
This one-day workshop focuses on Agile Approaches to Change. We know that change is as hard as it is necessary, both in yourself and others. Here we will focus on that aspect, from specific and helpful metrics to managing the obstacles you will encounter. We will work on giving you the abilities needed to lead your team and your organization through an Agile transformation, while also changing yourself as a leader and developing your ideas about what leadership and your coaching role can be.
